| Masanori Sera's 30th anniversary show was
held at Club Ikspiari in Maihama, Chiba on
November 28 and 29. Marty Friedman
and Muneyuki Kamimoto played there as the
guest, and Doug came from LA to play there
as the special guest. Doug played for
Twist International's album called "Sho"
released in 2003, then played as the member
of Twist International at Nippon Budokan
for the joint live with Hanoi Rocks. And
then he played for the second album "Jacaranda"
this year, so he was invited to play at this
show. The venue was Club Ikspiari on the 4th floor of Ikspiari close to Tokyo Disneyland in Maihama, Chiba. It was rather quiet and relaxed mood there. Mr. Sera seems to play there every year. The audience seemed to be around between 30's and 50's. The club was smaller than I had expected. There were some casual food and drinks. When the show started, the light became dark and Mr. sera came to the stage from the left side. He said hello with some words to the audience, and sat on the chair and started tuning. This show was an acoustic show, so it was rather quiet. He played some songs alone with his guitar. His guitar and vocal was really strong and powerful. Then Muneyuki Kamimoto joined him and started playing the piano. Personally I liked this part ... I hadn't heard the piano live for a long time. The sound of the piano was really beautiful and very impressive. I played the piano when I was a child, so there was a piano in my house and I played it. But I haven't played it for a long time. I really liked the songs with the piano and the guitar at this show. Then the second guest, Marty Friedman came to the stage ... the show became "Rock N' Roll" mood with him. Mr. Sera shouted and both he and the audience were excited. This was an acoustic show, but Marty's guitar was really heavy. And then, finally Doug came to the stage ... Mr. Sera said "This is my friend who came over from the foreign country..." They played Mr. Sera's hit songs together, like "Hikigane", "Anta No Ballad", "Yadonashi", etc. Then Mr. Sera played "Against The Wind", "Jacaranda", etc with Doug ... Doug played with the slide guitar and it really sounded great. I like "Jacaranda" most. After "Jacaranda", Mr. Sera and Doug left the stage. The audience expected the encore, and Mr. Sera and the guests came to the stage again. They played "Moero Ii Onna". The audience was very excited and often sang along during this show. Doug said, "They are great singers." Mr. Sera looked really enjoying the show and seemed to like Doug very much. The encore ended and the venue became light, so I left there. But some fans were still singing and dancing in front of the stage. I was surprised to see it. Doug told me later that Mr. Sera came to the stage and sang some again after that. I was surprised ... Mr. Sera's fans are really enthusiastic. I'm usually standing at the show, but this show was different. I was sitting and listening to the music ... I was relaxed and comfortable. I liked the mood of this show. |
